The meeting highlighted the need for promoting co-operation in collaborative research, especially in the field of oceanography, environment-friendly production techniques, chemicals and pharmaceutical, food technology and standards.
It was noted that the quality conscious research and development could lead to more useful application in production techniques.
The delegation exchanged views on low cost production of drinking water through modern desalination and purification techniques.
Nouraiz Shakoor said mutually beneficial avenues for bilateral co-operation between Pakistan and Qatar exist in the field of science and technology.
He said the ministry of science and technology has successfully worked out a cost-effective solution of eliminating chemical and bacterial pollutants from the water by using solar energy. This technique also impressed scientists from the USA on their visit last month.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar informed that the Qatar foundation has made a lot of progress in the field of higher education.
A science park has been established where companies sign agreements to establish their own research and development centres in Qatar.
The meeting ended with an invitation from Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah to Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor to visit Qatar and see the progress made by the country in the field of science and technology and exchange of souvenirs.
